Work to begin on PBSA in Manchester

Work on the creation of new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) at a site in Manchester is set to get underway.

This project is being developed by Far East Orchard and that company has now been granted all necessary regulatory permissions. The last hurdle it had to get over was the securing of Gateway 2 approval from the Building Safety Regulator. Now, there is nothing to prevent construction from beginning on the PBSA, which will be situated at Plymouth Grove in the city.

When the project is complete, it will contain a total of 239 bedrooms. This will make it one of the major housing blocks for young people who are studying in Manchester. Financing for it has been provided by the Far East UK Student Accommodation Development Fund (Fesad). Far East Orchard is in charge of that fund.

Homes for Students is set to manage the PBSA once it is ready to open. The site that has been selected for it lies close to Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester. Students from both facilities will be eligible for accommodation within it.

It should be finished by 2028.
