New restaurant to open at Manchester development
A brand-new restaurant run by a MasterChef winner has opened at a mixed-use development in Manchester.
Little Beast is the brainchild of Daniel Merriman, who is a former winner of MasterChef: The Professionals. He has launched it with Laura Montana, who will serve as director. They are promising a menu that is adjusted to fit the different seasons and the moon’s rhythms, so it certainly seems like it will offer the city something unique. The site that has been chosen for it is the Medlock Square development, near the Etihad Campus.
This is in the east of the city and cost a total of £300 million to construct. It is home to a variety of hospitality, entertainment and retail outlets. These include the Canalside coffee shop and bar owned by Co-Op Live. An immersive entertainment space called Mamma Mia is due to launch there before long.
Little Beast is its latest attraction though, and Iain Thomas has been appointed as head chef. He previously filled that role at The Pearl. The menu he has created for the opening includes sirloin steak on the bone, chicken ballotine with puree made from pickled mushrooms and cured trout pastrami.
The owners have said that all of the ingredients for the dishes will be sourced locally if possible. The opening hours for Little Beast are 12 pm to 3.30 pm and 5 pm to 9.30 pm between Wednesday and Saturday. Manchester architects WANT Studio designed the restaurant.
