New housing development planned in Stockport

A brand new development containing more than 100 homes could be built at a site in Stockport, if the plans are approved by the council.

Bellway Homes is the company that is hoping to construct this development, and the site it has chosen is at Hazel Grove. The development would consist of a total of 134 homes and would be constructed on land that is part of the green belt. The site is a number of open fields that lie just a few miles away from Manchester Airport.

They add up to around five hectares and have remained completely undeveloped. A design statement that Bellway Homes submitted to Stockport Council in support of its application says that the area is home to many useful amenities. These include sports pitches, play areas for children and public parks.

The design statement was supplied by Astle Planning and Design. According to the Manchester Evening News, this company said:

“The aim is to create an inclusive environment that can be easily used by as many people as possible. The development proposals for the site are founded on the creation of high quality residential environment.”

Bellway Homes has indicated that it would provide money for recreation facilities, health and education services, if the project is given the green light.

Stockport Council has a target of 25,000 homes to meet before the end of 2042 and this would help towards it.
