How vehicle graphics are created

Wrapping company vehicles in promotional graphics can be one of the most effective – and cost-effective – ways to advertise your business.

This blog will take a look at how vehicle wraps are created, and how they can be a great form of mobile advertising.

The design

The first stage in the process is to design the graphic. A professional will be able to work with the client to understand their purpose. Some clients want temporary promotional messaging, while others want to permanently brand their vehicles. Then, an overall design concept is devised that factors in the dimensions and shape of the vehicles.

The materials

Stage two is to select the materials that will be used for the graphics. By far the most common material for vehicle wraps is vinyl, because it is hard-wearing, but can be removed easily when the client is finished with that particular promotion. The actual graphic design is printed directly onto the vinyl.

The preparation

The vehicles must be prepared before the wraps are applied to them. This mostly consists of washing the exteriors to make sure any wax or dirt is removed. These can stop the vinyl from sticking properly.

The completion

At this point, the graphics will be printed onto the vinyl sheets. These will then undergo lamination so that they can withstand scratches, rain or direct sunlight. Finally, the sheets are cut into the required shape and size before being applied.
