David Wilson Homes – Maylands Park development launch

Challenge:

Maylands Park was a development by David Wilson Homes which showcases a range of luxurious homes. We were tasked with producing a range of vibrant and eye-catching signs in keeping with their corporate branding.

Objective:

With rural surroundings but within near proximity to a town centre the challenge was to generate as much public interest before the launch date.

Design & Planning:

The development is just off a fast-flowing A road, so the idea was not to over complicate signage with information but to subtly catch the eye. After a consultation with the client and subsequent site visits, it was determined the best way forward was two large entrance signs directly at the turn-in road accompanied by four luxury style banner flags for maximum impact. This allowed for a clear and precise entrance statement without cluttering the roadside with signs. A somewhat less is more style.

Execution:

The signs were of a free-standing nature with aluminium framed signs suspended between two 6m posts. Wind and weight calculations were made, and it was agreed that 8no. 1.2m deep holes needed to be hand-dug. A thorough survey of the ground was carried out by means of ground radar by our qualified operators and a dig permit issued from the construction management deeming it safe to dig.

The excavations required ground sleeves to be concreted in so the signposts and flag post could be easily slid into them. Solid foundations were required for the weight of the signage and a 40N concrete was used due to its high structural strength and meeting BS 8500 requirements.

Result:

Two impressive 5m high signs flanked by two luxury style flags to make a corporate style entrance statement with emphasis on style with an uncomplicated design.
