Building firm chosen for development in Manchester

The next phase of an ambitious development in the heart of Manchester will now be able to get underway, with the news that a building company has been chosen for it.

This project is called Rylands and it is all about transforming a former retail outlet into a mix of office, leisure and shopping spaces. The building that is undergoing redevelopment used to be home to a branch of Debenhams and is located in Market Street. The first phase of the project has already been completed and now phase two can get started.

The developer behind it all is AM ALPHA. Now, this company has chosen a construction firm to carry out phase two. Domis Construction is the firm that will deliver that phase of the project.

It is mostly a matter of refurbishment, including a comprehensive overhaul of the interiors. The ground floor has to be fitted out as a shopping arcade, while the upper ones will be turned into high grade offices.

There is also set to be an extension built, which will add a further 40,000 sq ft. This will be used for offices too. Speaking to a source, Stephan Schmid from AM ALPHA stated that:

“The contractor will play a vital role in bringing our meticulous plans to fruition during this next stage of the project, so that the people of Manchester can enjoy Rylands for decades to come.”
