Work on Greater Manchester development gets underway

Work on the initial phase of a massive development in Greater Manchester is now underway, and the developer is stating that the majority of the homes have already been bought.

The project called Trafford Waters will lead to the construction of a total of 3,000 homes at the chosen site. During this initial phase, 113 are set to be built and it is clear that there is a demand for them. The company behind the project is X1 Developments and it is claiming to have already sold 79 of the properties. The project is based not far from Trafford Way and will cost £2 billion to complete.

In addition to providing the area with much-needed new housing, the development is also expected to have other knock-on benefits. The belief is that it will increase the number of people who visit the Trafford Centre and other local facilities such as the Chill Factore. Indeed, visitor numbers could rise as high as 30 million per year.

The homes that are being built during the initial phase are flats with a mix of three, two and one bedrooms. Each of them will come with an attractive view of the waterfront.

The chief executive of X1 Developments is Nick Sweeney. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, he said:

“TraffordCity represents more than just development – it’s about building a connected environment where people can live, work and enjoy leisure all in one place.”
