Why a site survey is needed for signage projects

A signage project is one that involves several stages. The signs must be designed, manufactured and installed, but there is also another stage – the survey of the installation site. You may think you can skip this, but it’s not recommended to. Read on to find out why site surveys are so important.

Taking measurements

The survey will take measurements of all parts of the site where signs are to be installed. This is to ensure that the signs fit the required spaces on the day of installation. If they are too big or too small, replacements will have to be made, and this will cost your company more money.

Examining surfaces

All relevant surfaces will be examined during the survey. The purpose of this is to be sure there are no flaws that can undermine the safety and impact of your signs. For example, can the ceiling support heavy overhanging signs? Does the paint on the walls need to be touched up before adding digital wallpaper or vinyl wall graphics? Again, this is about avoiding expensive delays.

Identifying obstructions

A survey of the site will identify anything that could obstruct the visibility of your signs. This can mean obstacles like trees and buildings, but it could also be other light sources that will counteract illuminated signage.

In the end, a site survey can save your company money by picking up on any problems at an early stage.
