Business Signage Signage Mistakes Tips & Guides

Three red flags when it comes to your business signs

Once a company has installed its signage, it is often taken for granted. People rarely stop to take a good look at the signs and make sure everything is still as it should be. We recommend doing just that and here are some of the common red flags to look out for.

Weather damage or fading

Any exterior signage you have will be vulnerable to the effects of the rain, wind and UV sun rays. This can mean cracked acrylic, rusty fixings and peeling, faded vinyl, with the effect that your brand looks just as worn and weary. This kind of damage needs to be rectified straight away and only suitable materials should be used for outdoor signs.

Lack of brand coherence

It will not matter much if each individual sign is well designed and manufactured, if there is no overall brand coherence. Problems arise when your interior and exterior signs are different colours or use two differing font styles. Another issue can be if one sign still has an older version of your logo. All of these elements should be consistent across all signage.

The signage is too subtle

No one wants to see garish signage, but it is possible to go too far in the opposite direction. Signage that blends into its surroundings or where the text becomes invisible under harsh lighting is no use. Your signs need to be easily noticeable – and readable – at all times.
