The best times to use billboard signs
Billboards can be a high impact form of out-of-home (OOH) advertising due to their scale. The effectiveness of a billboard campaign is dependent on getting the timing right though.
This blog will outline the best times to have your billboards on show.
Morning and evening
If you are paying for billboard adverts to be displayed during the working week, mornings and evenings will be the best times. The former will allow them to be seen by people as they are walking or driving to work, while the latter will make them visible to people on their way home.
Placing them in areas of peak rush hour traffic at those times of the day should yield dividends during the week.
Daytime
When it comes to weekend billboard campaigns, the rules are different. With them, it is better to have your boards on show during the height of the day – which means late morning and early afternoon. This is when families are most likely to be out and about, engaged in shopping and other activities. Place your billboards within sight of retail and leisure areas at those times of the day to make the most of them.
The exception to the rule will be if your campaign is targeted at a younger demographic. Then, it can be effective to have billboards on show at night, close to pubs and live music venues, as it’s likely members of that demographic congregate there at weekends.
