Office block in Manchester to become modernised
One of the biggest blocks of offices in Manchester is set to undergo refurbishment, designed to bring it up to the standards of the modern world, after Manchester City Council approved the plans.
The block in question is One Hardman Boulevard, which measures 350,000 sq ft. It is located within the Spinningfields district and was occupied by NatWest bank at one time. Now, it is owned by Parthena Reys, and this investor is keen to spend money on bringing it up to date. Its ambitious plans for the building were approved at a council meeting.
These include radical alterations to the inside, such as a widening of the central core. This will be done so that a number of internal terraces can be created within the building. The plans also incorporate the construction of floorplates that will be 39,000 sq ft in size.
It is not just the interiors of the block that will be given a makeover though. The project will see an outdoor terrace added to the roof as well. The designer behind the plans is Simpson Haugh Architects.
The hope is that the renovated block will meet the requirements of modern businesses, but also that it will be more environmentally friendly. It was originally designed by Allied London and its chairman, Michael Ingall, stated that they would make it one of the country’s greatest commercial blocks. Work should begin in the middle of next year.
