Housing plan for former Manchester cricket club
A housing developer is hoping to convert a disused former Manchester cricket club into a brand new neighbourhood, and has launched a public consultation on its plans.
Developer Views wants to turn the site that used to be home to Burnage Cricket Club into a development that would consist of both houses and flats.
Designs for the project have been produced by Ollier Smurthwaite Architects. These designs indicate that 47 houses with four bedrooms and 11 with three bedrooms would be built at the site. Several of the structures already there would be converted into around 10 flats.
The properties would all have driveways for car parking to the front and gardens at the back. There would also be facilities the secure parking of bikes and for charging electric vehicles.
Patrick Sheridan, who is the senior development manager for Developer Views, talked to Place North West about the project, saying that they would bring the site back to life. He then added:
“We are working closely with Manchester City Council and would now like to put our proposals to the local community for their feedback, ahead of a planning application.”
This application for the ex-cricket club, which shut down more than a decade ago, is being put together by Asteer Planning. The public consultation process began at the start of this month.
