Housing development planned for Cheshire East
Cheshire East could be set to get some much needed new housing, with a developer on the brink of submitting plans for a development to the local council.
Bloor Homes is keen to build its latest housing scheme at a site between the centre of Macclesfield and Prestbury. The borough council has acknowledged that the area has a pressing need for new homes, which this scheme is intended to meet. If it is given the go ahead, it would lead to the construction of 200 homes and would cover a total of 40 acres.
The developer has indicated that close to half of the completed housing would be affordable, while the size of the homes would vary considerably. They would range from large houses with four bedrooms to smaller ones with a single bedroom. The planned application will also include a “buffer zone” that takes in Upton Wood and Upton Hall.
In support of its intended application, Bloor is pointing out that the borough is failing to meet targets for house building currently. It will make the case that approving this scheme would help get them back on track.
The company’s strategic land director, Toby Hudson, told a local source that:
“Macclesfield faces an urgent need for housing and our proposals seek to address that demand, while also balancing community needs with our longstanding commitment to sustainable development.”
Bloor will also seek the views of local people.
