Gateway 2 approval granted for tower in Manchester
Plans to build a new tower in Manchester have taken a giant step forward, with confirmation that Gateway 2 approval has been secured.
This tower will house both an aparthotel and a number of flats. It will be 24 storeys high and is to be constructed at Cornbrook.
Domis is the contractor that will deliver it, and now there is little to stand in the way of work getting started.
The Gateway 2 approval has been granted by the Building Safety Regulator. It requires developers to submit detailed plans for how a potentially high-risk building will be made safe.
When the tower has been completed, it will go by the name Vivere Residences. The company behind it is Forshaw Land & Property Group. It will contain an aparthotel with 88 rooms and 237 flats.
The last issue that needs to be resolved before work can begin is the financing. However, the property developer is in the midst of finalising funding of £64.2 million. This will be provided by Maslow Capital.
Manchester City Council gave the green light to the project two years ago, but getting Gateway 2 approval can be a lengthy process.
Lyndon Forshaw of Forshaw Land & Property Group told Construction Enquirer:
“While the process has been rigorous, it ensures that the highest standards of building safety are embedded from the outset, which is something we fully support.”
Work is due to start next month.
