Funding secured for micro-hotel in Manchester

Construction work will soon be able to begin on a brand new hotel in Manchester, with the confirmation that the funding needed for it has now been secured by the developer.

Hilton is the company behind the plans and its chosen site for the hotel is in the Ancoats district of Manchester. The financing for the project has been provided by OakNorth Bank, in the form of a loan worth £15.7 million. What is set to be constructed at the site is a Motto by Hilton micro hotel that contains a total of 154 rooms.

When it is completed, this facility will be among the first Motto by Hilton hotels to open in the UK. The very first one was opened last year, in Glasgow. The brand has micro hotels in several other countries though – including the US, Mexico and Holland.

They come with rooms that are fairly small, but with a degree of flexibility. Customers can pay for two adjoining rooms and then turn them into a double. They have the option of a bed that folds down or bunk beds.

The planned Manchester hotel will have a range of other facilities too. There will be a space that people can use for co-working, a cafe and a bar. Hilton got the necessary planning permission two years ago.

The hotel will have 20 storeys, and work on it is due to begin later in the year.
