Framework completed for Manchester hotel

The basic framework for a new hotel in Manchester has now been completed, meaning that construction of it is progressing according to the planned schedule.

This Premier Inn hotel is being constructed at a site off Rochdale Road, with GMI Construction being the company that is carrying out the work. The completed facility will have 10 storeys and will contain a total of 229 bedrooms.

The Premier Inn chain is owned by Whitbread and this company is stating that it is building a second one in Manchester to meet demand for it within the city.

Design work for the hotel was undertaken by Jon Matthews Architects and the outer frame has now been built in full. The next stage in the construction process is to kit out the interiors of the building, ready for the launch. The other Manchester Premier Inn is located on Portland Street.

Among the amenities that will be added during the next construction phase are the reception area, a restaurant and a bar. These will all be on the ground floor.

Anthony Judge is the GMI Construction North West regional director. Speaking to Place North West, he said:

“Following our successful partnership with Whitbread on the Premier Inn in Keswick, we’re delighted to be working together again to deliver a truly standout hotel in Manchester.”

He added that the hotel would enhance the skyline of the city. It is due to be completed by the autumn of next year.
