Could we see a new block for students built in Manchester?

Two connected blocks that would be used as accommodation for students could be set for construction at a site in Manchester, if approval is granted by the local authority.

Vita is the company that wishes to build these towers, and its chosen locale is the First Street district. Vita is a firm that is known for the provision of student housing, and that is what it intends this latest planned development to be. If the project gets the go-ahead, it will lead to the construction of twin tower blocks with a total of 861 rooms.

The designer of the proposed scheme is Tim Groom Architects, and it will consist of a pair of connected blocks. The main one will be 34-storeys in height and will have a number of metal panels fitted to its exterior. These will be black in colour.

A second smaller block will link to it, which will be 12 storeys high. This will be a brick envelope building. Both will be used to house young people studying in the city and will be located at the corner of Medlock Street and Hulme Street.

All of the flats in the two buildings will be studio ones, and several other amenities will be created as part of the scheme. They include a gymnasium and areas for study and social events. There would also be security and housekeeping staff living permanently at the site.
