Contractor chosen for PBSA in Manchester
The company behind plans for new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) at a Manchester site has chosen a contractor for it, meaning that work will soon be able to get underway.
Tiger Developments has selected GMI Construction Group to deliver this PBSA, which will be built in the Ardwick area of the city. Located on Carmoor Road, it will consist of a total of 172 flats, which will be a mix of cluster and studio ones. The setting that has been chosen for the development means that the accommodation is close to the University of Manchester, which will make it attractive to those studying there.
The project is expected to cost £40 million to complete. The financing for it has come from Hampshire Trust Bank, as well as Tiger Developments. The student housing arm of that property developer, which is called Host Student Housing, will manage the PBSA when it opens.
Lechler Hayes Architects is responsible for designing the scheme and it will be made up of two buildings that connect to each other. In addition to the housing, there will be amenities for residents and landscaped gardens.
The Tiger Developments managing director is John Nesbitt. He told Business Up North:
“This development reflects our commitment to delivering sustainable, thoughtfully designed homes for students, while also contributing positively to the local community.”
Preliminary work has already begun and it is due to be ready by the beginning of the 2027/28 academic year.
